Three projects led by UK organisations were selected for funding under the Culture programme’s ‘Cooperation Projects with Third Countries (Canada & Australia)’.

‘Weather Stations‘ led by Free Word

Rose Fenton, Director of Free Word, shared with us her thoughts about being selected for support:

“We are delighted to receive an award from the EU Cultural Programme – Cooperation with Third Countries for Weather Stations, a project led by Free Word, London in collaboration with Tallaght Arts, Dublin, The Berlin International Literature Festival, Krytyka Polityczna, Warsaw and the Wheeler Centre, Melbourne, Australia.

Free Word works with the transformative power of words. Weather Stations is an ambitious project that sets out to harness the power and vision of literature to explore how, as European and global citizens, we might live our lives differently in the context of a changing climate. We hugely look forward to working with our international partners. Our first tasks include appointing a Writer in Residence for each Weather Station; preparing the writers for their travels to each partner venue; exploring relationships with local schools and communities in each city; and creating a programme of participatory projects and debates that will forge actions for a hopeful and sustainable future.”

Only 12 projects were selected under this Strand so this is an excellent result for the UK. Also, FACT, Blast Theory, Pilot Theatre and i-DAT are partnering into other projects. Congratulations to all selected projects!

For those who weren’t selected, please get in touch with us so we can together look at the evaluation feedback and help you re-submit under the next programme, Creative Europe, which will allow for Canadian, Australian and other non-European countries to partner into Cooperation Projects. Deadlines for Creative Europe are yet to be announced, but keep the relationships and conversations going with potential project partners!
