THIRD COUNTRY COOPERATION PROJECTS WITH ARMENIA, BELARUS, EGYPT, GEORGIA, JORDAN, MOLDOVA, OCCUPIED PALESTINIAN TERRITORY AND TUNISIA

The project, led by Astràgali Teatro, was aimed to improve mutual knowledge, recognition, respect of cultures as a way to overcome frontiers and separations. To this purpose collaborations and mobility between artists and cultural operators from Italy, Palestine, Jordan, Greece, Cyprus, France, Great Britain were organised. The project was structured in international residencies involving participants from the different involved countries, making a specific work in each place that brought to the realization of special events.

The first residency was held in Amman (Jordan), the second in the villages of Sebastyia, Aasyra, Nasfjibil and in Ramallah (West Bank), the third in Lecce (Italy). The residencies brought to the realisation of a specific joint performance in each location,entitled “Lysistrata-first study on the obscenity of power”, involving the trans-national group of artists. The project dealt with the implementation of theatrical practices, realising the encounter of different cultures, antagonists to conflict, for the promotion of a practice of peace among equals. Important results is also the realization of a video “Roads and Desires” and a book “Roads and Desires: Notes of the journey of a theatre in Palestine”, including contributions of artists, critics, professors.
