The project enriches Europe’s cultural heritage with instrumental combinations of classical music that are absent or very rare in the repertoire. The project was launched in the Royal Academy of Music in London and is a partnership between UK, France and Romania. It is a unique and visionary project which encourages modern-day composers to write new works, inspired by celebrated musical ideas of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries and enhanced by cultural elements from the composers’ own indigenous heritage. It has caught the interest, imagination and admiration of over 100 professional composers worldwide and over 80 performers, as well as music lovers, festivals, record companies and prestigious concert halls. The Invitation to Composers concerts are musical journeys that combine performance with musical, literary and art analysis and give the audiences the chance to explore the creative process together with the composers and performers. The project became one of the success stories of the European Commission: http://ec.europa.eu/education/lifelong-learning-programme/doc2410_en.htm.
