RAPID (Regeneration Arts Partnership of Intercultural Dialogue) was an international partnership bringing together professional and emerging interdisciplinary artists to create innovative new works developed with a diverse mix of communities and young people. RAPID involved in total 36 emerging artists (aged between 18 and 30) who travelled to each other’s countries as part of 3 creative residencies. Up to 9 professional artists were involved in the delivery of the 3 residencies throughout the life of the project and 3 project managers who represented their organisations – SeaChange Arts, Great Yarmouth, UK, Turku Youth Council, Finland and Avis Municipal Council, Portugal. RAPID was a 2 year programme, it began in October 2007 and finished in September 2009. It was developed around three aims:
– International collaboration and sharing good practice
– Working with local communities and young people to create quality, innovative work which has a local and global significance and meaning
– Nurturing emerging artistic talent
