			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The EU Culture programme 2007-2013 offers funding opportunities for the translation of European fiction (Strand 1.2.2). The maximum grant available is <strong>EUR 60 000</strong>, for the translation of up to 10 books.<br />
The purpose is to stimulate the widest circulation of European literature among European citizens by supporting the translation of high-quality European literature into the different languages of the countries participating in the Culture programme.</p>
<p><em>How to apply?</em><br />
The applicants must be <strong>publishing houses or publishing groups</strong> willing to translate<strong> works of fiction </strong>(novels, plays, poetry, etc.) from/into one of the 23 official languages of the EU Member States, plus Icelandic, Norwegian, Turkish, Croatian, Montenegrin, Macedonian, Serbian and Latin and Ancient Greek.<br />
You can submit a slate of up to <strong>10 books</strong>. Please note that the grants can only cover the actual <strong>translation costs</strong> (e.g. fees to translators) &#8211; the grants cannot be used for printing, publishing or promotion costs.<br />
Also note that the works should have been previously published and not already translated into the language proposed for translation.</p>
<p><em>When to apply?</em><br />
The next deadline is <strong>3 February 2012 </strong>at 11am UK time. There will be one more deadline in early Feb 2013.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The European Commission announced its detailed proposal for &#8216;Creative Europe&#8217;, the new programme for the cultural and creative sector. The programme is part of the Commission&#8217;s proposal for a multi-annual budget for 2014-2020 and will bring the current Culture, MEDIA and MEDIA Mundus programmes together under a common frame which will support the cultural and creative sectors with a budget of €1.8 billion (which would be an increase of 37%).</p>
